Madison, WI (8/30/08) -- Even though wisconsintrackandfield.com is on a bit of sabbatical, we had to update the site with some of the great marks.

Five all-time bests were set this season - two by the boys and three by the girls.

During the regular season, two boys bests were set - both on May 9th. Andrew Perkins, who was competing un-attached, and not running for his high school team in Watertown, ran the 800 meters in 1:49.96 at an all-comers meet held at the University of Wisconsin. This time broke Andrew's own record set last season.

Bradley Tech's Marcus Jenkins, broke one of the oldest state records at the Hartford Invite by long jumping 25-2¼. Madison Central's Larry Franklin held the previous best setting his best of 25-0¾ at the WIAA state meet in Madison in 1966.

All three girls bests were set in the summer after the regular season had ended. First on June 14, Jamie Hill (Onalaska junior) broke legendary Suzy Favor's 800 meter best by running 2:09.14 at the Distance Gala in Lisle IL. The following weekend, Brookfield Central freshman Chidera Obasih ran the 100 meters in a time of 11.52 at the Wisconsin USATF Junior Olympics. Finally, in July, Milwaukee North junior Tasha Allen set the 200 meter record running 23.79 at the AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit.

See updated honor rolls - boys - girls, and all-time lists - boys - girls.

In 1985, Stevens Point senior Suzy Favor ran the 800 meters in 2:09.88 to win the WIAA state title in Madison.

It has taken 23 years but another Wisconsin prep athlete has finally run a faster time. Jami Hill, Onalaska junior, won the 800 meter run at the Midwest Distance Gala (held at Benedictine University) in a meet record time of 2:09.14. This is the fastest time ever run by a Wisconsin prep female.

Hill has had a fantastic junior year. She ran 56.6h in the 400 meters (5th best honor roll), 4:54.31i in the 1600 (2nd best), and 11:17.3h in the 3200 meters to go along with her all-time best 800 meters. She also scored 24 points at the state track meet in La Crosse by taking second place in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter relay.

Suzy Favor is one of the top female track and field athlete to ever come out of Wisconsin (Stevens Point, 1986). After her high school days at SPASH, she went to win many NCAA titles and compete in the Olympics.

Also at the Gala, Muskego senior Keegan Calmes, ran the years fastest mile time placing 4th with a time of 4:13.28 (converts to 4:11.82 1600 meters).

wisconsintrackandfield.com is Shutting Down.

Madison, WI, (2/26/08)  -- Almost 7-years ago - Jack Rauwerdink, Oostburg High School, reached out via email to a group of track fans to see if anyone was interested in taking over his role of keeping the Wisconsin High School Boys Track and Field Honor Roll. wisconsintrackandfield.com jumped in and offered to take up the task. We spent a large amount of time researching old newspapers and the WIAA archives in Stevens Point to create our first all-time best lists and then all of you contributed by sending in a lot of history that we have archived on this site.

We also began publishing an annual publication that many of you have told us is a priceless keepsake for each track season here in Wisconsin.

After 7-years, we have run out of the time needed to put together a quality web site, keep the boys honor roll up-to-date, and also the all-time lists.

We have decided to pass the torch to wissports.net. The Wisconsin Sports Network (WSN) is an integrated publishing company with a focus on student athletes, their communities, families, friends, fans and coaches.

Effective immediately, please pass all boys honor roll and all-time list submissions to them.

Thank you for your interest in high school track and field here in Wisconsin.
